The Band's History


The Hurricanes Dance Band was founded in 1989 by former musical director and trombone player, Ken Kletke.
Originally, the band was was called the Richmond Hill Dance Band as they started rehearsing in a high school in Richmond Hill.


1994



Soon afterwards, the name was changed to something more memorable and original and to a reflect little more excitement.

The band has been entertaining audiences throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario since.
To date, there are still a few original founding band members performing with The Hurricanes.

Recently, the founding musical director had relocated and the band is currently under the direction of local
trumpet player John McGuigan.

 

2004



Today, The Hurricanes Dance Band continues to thrill audiences with some of the same classic swing tunes and several new arrangements and more contemporary songs.
